My take on cloud computing
Computers

First of all I would like to say that I have been working on ITT for quite some time and on Computers for well all my adult life, I have had websites up since 1996, so I can surely say that I do have over 10 years of experience on the web and more than 20 years as a computer programmer.

Now as a person that likes to enter new technologies I started checking up the computing clouds such as Amazon EC2, Aptana and GoGrid, have to take time and 3 articles to talk about each one but the first one I would like to refer to is GoGrid. You might wonder why GoGrid first, and I have to say because it is still a beta, and maybe if the developers do read this there’s still space for improvement.

Telnet Access Using Windows, choosing the right Software
Networking

This is an uncomplicated advice, if you work remotely on a Linux computer one moment or another you will need to access it via telnet, there are a lot of programs around the internet, that will do this, some are free, some are not.

So far I have been working for over a decade giving remote assistance to Linux computers, and when in windows, the best free server so far is one called "Putty", it's a simple straightforward program that allows you to connect to the other machine. it can emulate colors and all ( in case you use MC or something of such sort )

now as part of this advice, it's important to remember not to use "telnet" because it is very insecure, but to have on your Linux computer telnet disabled, and use SSH instead, that's the same as telnet but secure.

How to share an internet connection using just one Ethernet card.
Linux

In Linux you can do things that well... you can never even imagine doing in other operative systems, during my time working with Linux sometimes I have needed to share an internet connection using just one network card, well, actually it's very easy first of all you have to define if you are going to use an IP on the 10.x.x.x range or on the 192.168.x.x range, remember that you have to use any of this ranges because those are ips that have been saved for intranet use, now, most certainly your Ethernet is configured to have internet access, so you need to make the other part. and the "trick" is like this if you have your Ethernet card up you can type ifconfig you will get something like this:

How to Clean a LCD monitor (screen)
Computers

OK now you have your brand new LCD monitor, it has worked great for the last few months, but it's getting dirty ! now what ? use a paper towel ? NO ! use gasoline ? nope... a cloth, nope not that either ! ( at least not a dry one ) now here it what you have to do either you can go out and buy a solution created specifically for cleaning a monitor and the respective cloth ( that's the ideal ) you can Froggle for it, most of those solutions contain 50% isopropyl alcohol, ( you can buy that at a local drugstore ) and 50% water, you can do that solution and use a cloth for cleaning glasses, doing that it won't leave any streaks. Remember proper care of your lcd screens will keep them nice for years to come ! lcdmonitor.jpg
