The journaling in your scrapbook can be as important as the photographs if you want you family’s memories to last. If you are going to the trouble an expense to create a lasting scrapbook album, using acid free papers that will last for generations, then don’t leave you descendants guessing about who is in the photos and what event you’re celebrating.
You don’t necessarily need to write long detailed accounts of everything that occurred, but try to include at least some captions for the photos, and any funny or poignant memories you have of an event. It is nice to personalize your album by journaling in your own handwriting. You may not like the way it looks, but others do. However, if you really can’t stand your writing, or are just plain afraid it’s illegible, then go ahead and type something up and paste it in. Just make sure your family and friends are remembered, not only in pictures, but also by name.
