Matches are needed when going hiking or camping so if you need to build a fire for warmth, light, or to show your location. If the matches get wet then what are you to do? The best way to prevent matches from being ruined is to treat them by making them waterproof. Making matches waterproof sounds a little silly, but it can actually be done.
Most women have this item you need in with their cosmetics, and if not it is very inexpensive to purchase. Take clear fingernail polish and coat the entire match and let dry. The nail polish coats the match and works as a water sealant saving your matches. After doing this, another way to help ensure dry matches is to place them in a sealed container to keep out water. If you drop the matches in the creek, river, or if it rains this will prevent them from ruining. Therefore, you can still able to build your fire without all the hard work of rubbing two sticks together.
High school seniors, who plan on attending college, apply for as many scholarships that you can find. Also, apply for financial aid or what is known as FASFA. The reason being, college is expensive, and tuition rates are raising a percentage practically every semester.
You can acquire the information for scholarships and FASFA from your high school counselor’s office. Some high schools have a bulletin where scholarships are posted. If your school does check it out. It is only a few minutes of your time, and possibly some money to pay for you college education.
Some scholarships require some work by wanting you to write an essay. The essay may want you to tell a story about yourself or write about a specific topic. Other scholarships may just want letters of recommendations from your teachers and people who have known you your entire life and general information about you. As for FASFA, the process is pretty easy. You fill out a form with general information and then you will need a little help from your parents or guardians about finances and income.
Microsoft Outlook can be a powerful tool when you are a small business owner. This handy time management system can hold all of your appointments, circulate you e-mail and help you communicate with employees. One of the best things Microsoft Outlook can do is in the area of communication with employees and others you work with. Here is how you would use the program to schedule a meeting and invite fellow works to that meeting.
First, open Microsoft Outlook and go to the Calendar window. One in the calendar window click “New” to open a new appointment. It is important to note that it is easier to invite fellow attendees when you first set an appointment.
Mail merge in Microsoft Word is one of those programs that once you know how to do it, you will wonder how you lived without it. Using the mail merge part of Microsoft Word is much easier than you might think.
First, create an excel spreadsheet with the data you want in your final document for example a mailing list for Christmas cards or a mailing list for a mailing at work. Next you open Microsoft Word and go to the Tools tab at the top. In Tools you will find a tab marked “Letters and Mailings”, click on this and you’ll see a sub-tab marked “Mail Merge”.
Once you have done this you will need to choose the document type you want form a list that has such projects on it as letters, envelopes, labels and so on. Click on “Next: Starting Document” which is located down at the bottom right, in blue. For envelopes or labels, click on “Envelope Options” or “Label Options” in blue, in the middle of the screen on the right. When doing labels or envelopes you will also need to choose your envelope or label size. After doing this click “OK”. When doing letters make sure “Use the Current Document” is checked.
Putting rocks at the bottom of a flowerpot before adding potting mix will allow the soil to drain and let the plant roots have some space and air. However, it doesn’t take too many rocks before a pot can become very heavy. You can achieve the same benefits with much less weight by using chunks of Styrofoam instead.
Not only will this benefit your plants and still allow you to move you pots without strain, but it can help the planet by keeping the Styrofoam out of landfills. My favorite to use is those big pieces that come in electronics packaging, like for computers and televisions. Just break them into whatever size you need, and keep them out of your garbage. We all know it won’t decompose, so it holds up great for you plant, and can even be repotted with them if it gets entangled with the roots. It’s a win-win-win, for you, your plants and the planet!
Notes to editor: I recommend a Finances or Budget category!
Article body:
With gasoline prices soaring higher than ever, most people are looking for new ways to save a few dollars and stay within their budget. The most obvious way to avoid going over budget is to use less gas. Carpooling is an excellent to save gas, but your schedule will undergo a major makeover. Start smaller. Plan at least two weeks worth of errands and try to do them all in one day: grocery shop, hit the library, and pick up the dry cleaning in one trip. Check with your bank about prepaid deposit envelopes and bill paying services online, they may be free! If not, mailing bills in advance will save you some “pain at the pump” later. If you have a flexible work schedule or rotating shift, check with your boss about working more hours per day and less days per week. Depending on how far you drive, you could save a lot of money. If you just think about your wallet every time you crank your ignition, you can find lots of ways to conserve gas and pinch a penny!
Be it high school, college, or career training, you can learn to succeed by practicing these study habits:
Take good notes. Although active listening is important, you may only remember bits and pieces of lecture the next day without good notes. Notes can jog your memory later, and detailed notes ensure that nothing is left out. Don’t worry about making your notes neat and organized or even about creating an outline. Well, don’t only create an outline. Outlines do give the big picture, but if they are too sparse you may leave out details that are important to the teacher. A point that appeared trivial to you in lecture may surprise you by showing up on the exam. So quickly write down as much as you can, abbreviating and ignoring grammar and punctuation as you go. They don’t need to be pretty; who will see them but you?
Being a working mother can cut into your time with the family. You miss taking the kids to the amusement park, missing a ballgame or hiking because your weekends are crammed full of running errands and doing laundry. It doesn’t have to be that way. Your evenings can be stress free and your weekends can be full of carefree adventures and little housework so that Saturday’s are just tidying up odds and ends and Sunday’s can be dedicated to reconnecting or family adventures.
Many women work close enough to home to take advantage of those seemingly wasteful lunch breaks. When that happens and you have, crock-pots, ovens that automatically turn on and off, and washers and dryers in your home, you have opportunities galore for cutting time into your weekends, instead out of them. Each day an activity can be assigned or a meal can be prepared ahead of time to cook while you’re at work to make your evening less stressful and your weekends more full of family friendly.

When reporting child abuse there are proper procedures that have to be followed to ensure that the report gets the attention of the authorities. First and foremost it is important to ensure the safety of the child. Often times family members are the abusers or they already know about the abuse so telling a family member is not the place to begin. Depending on the situation the place to begin is either the police or Child Protective Services. If the need is not one in which the child is in what is termed imminent danger, start with Child Protective Services. Intake personnel will take a report but don’t just give the report and hang up, get the case number and contact information so that you can follow up with CPS.
