High school seniors, who plan on attending college, apply for as many scholarships that you can find. Also, apply for financial aid or what is known as FASFA. The reason being, college is expensive, and tuition rates are raising a percentage practically every semester.
You can acquire the information for scholarships and FASFA from your high school counselor’s office. Some high schools have a bulletin where scholarships are posted. If your school does check it out. It is only a few minutes of your time, and possibly some money to pay for you college education.
Some scholarships require some work by wanting you to write an essay. The essay may want you to tell a story about yourself or write about a specific topic. Other scholarships may just want letters of recommendations from your teachers and people who have known you your entire life and general information about you. As for FASFA, the process is pretty easy. You fill out a form with general information and then you will need a little help from your parents or guardians about finances and income.
If you want to dig deeper and do some research on the Internet there are all sorts of scholarships out there. A great website for scholarships is Fastweb.com. Requirements for this include filling out general information about yourself and answering questions that pertain to your intended major in college, hobbies, interests and what you want to do with your life. With this site you will receive updates about new scholarships and deadlines. Also, check out the school you want to attend. They may have scholarships you can apply for in the designated major you have chosen.
The money and means of going to college is out there, so do not think you cannot afford it. If you want it bad enough you can make it there. Just remember the work you do now as a high school senior may assist you with your future expenses of college.
