What we all have in common, we all were once…

When I see someone in a position that often attracts judgment, be it a criminal, homeless person or what have you, I immediately imagine them as a newborn- an infant. This puts things in perspective as far as treating and regarding them as a human being, just as anyone else, regardless of circumstance.  When you start viewing yourself as superior, you lose your humanity. It is important to have the understanding that had we been born and experienced the life of another, we may have been subject to the same fate. It is partially due to chance and our reactions based on our opportunities and circumstances that we are who we are. And to take a step back and simply see a broken person as having once been a baby may shift your notions and thus the type of judgement and consequently spread more kindness to the world. Feeling that you’re somehow better generates a sense of hate, and hate populates more hate.  We do not need more negativity in the world, we need more compassionate, connection and love.
